The church I go to has announced that the priest of the church is retiring and wishes everyone the best. It was surprising too hear this because I never really thought about another priest in my church. He said he was very fortunate to be retiring at his age because he is not as old as many of the priests who retire. I didn’t understand why he made this comment, so I researched it online. I learned that many priests don’t get retire until they physically cannot complete mass anymore. This is because the income for a priest is very low, causing it to take longer to save for a retirement fund. Also, there is a small amount of employees who want to become priests, so they can’t abandon the church. I think it would be hard to live as priest because the amount of time you work is constant; it’s almost the equivalent as a doctors. I wish Father Joe the best and hope that the new priest is just as nice.
