Tanning beds seems to be a norm in today’s society. I try to be as polite as possible when I say that tanning beds are quite bad for one’s health. All of my friends go tanning and I try to tell them that they don’t need to and that they are just increasing their chances of skin cancer. Many say that going a few times a week won’t do anything, but that’s not true. The American Academy of Dermatology researched that indoor tanning exposes skin to 15 times stronger UV radiation levels than natural sunlight. Also, women who use tanning beds even once a month are 55 percent more likely to develop malignant melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. The statistics against tanning beds or indoor tanning can be endless. I just want to say that everyone should be happy in their own skin, and not feel the need to change themselves to feel good.
